Be The Change Summer Institute Held on Campus

As part of their Board-approved strategic plan, Lake Ridge Academy hosted the Be the Change Summer Institute for 22 volunteer faculty and staff. Participants spent days prototyping classroom ideas that aligned with Lake Ridge’s renewed focus on leading with relationships, providing exceptional educational outcomes, and prioritizing wellness and belonging. The workshop was hosted by educational consultant and author Grant Lichtman on the school’s campus.

Upper School Teacher Ron Davis had this to say about the work done at the Institute:“In the fifteen years I have taught at Lake Ridge Academy, our work with Grant Lichtman and the North Star represents the most important educational shift in our understanding of and approach to student wellness. While taking care of our students has always been important, this work allows us to go beyond what we once thought possible: to foster a sense of belonging in which students feel truly safe and empowered to deconstruct and understand the world around them.”

Mitch White, Head of School, echoed Davis’ sentiments by explaining, “I am excited for these opportunities, where our teachers innovate in accordance with our longstanding priorities of relationships, academics, and student success. It was especially energizing to see faculty from different grades and disciplines, collaborating across multiple divisions, with the focus on the student experience.”
