When the Lake Ridge community comes together, great things happen. Between Year of Service Kick-Off Day, Holiday Project, and clubs like Humanitarian Aid Society, Lake Ridge is an environment that community service thrives in. It is with great pride that Lake Ridge Academy recognizes the efforts of Joel Lacoste '22 and Tyler Young '22 through their school wide fundraiser earlier this month. Over the course of a week, the two sophomores were able to fundraise more then $7,500 for the 2nd Harvest Food Bank in Lorain County in conjunction with Teacher Appreciation week. This donation will be able to provide over 35,000 meals to families in need in Lorain County.

"As a student and teenager during this crisis, it’s been very easy to feel small and insignificant, and I often felt like there was nothing that could be done," said Joel. "The novel Coronavirus has disrupted our lives as we know it, and the sole way we will get through this time together as a community is by what we do for each other. As a student, I feel not only fortunate to attend a school like Lake Ridge, but to be a part of a community that can make an impact on so many people's lives."

"For a while, I felt stuck in my own Lake Ridge bubble" said Tyler. "Most people at our school don't have to worry about when their next meal will be, or how they will afford to feed their family. Keeping this in mind, we wanted to do something to help our food bank and our neighbors in need during this pandemic."
