Career Networking

Lake Ridge Academy and the Alumni Council facilitate activities that support peer-to-peer networking among alumni and between alumni and students. Lake Ridge has active groups on both Facebook and LinkedIn, and the Alumni Office works with individuals one-on-one to find matches between job seekers and job opportunities among our alumni body. We invite you to contact us the next time you have a job opening at your place of business or need help networking for a job opportunity yourself.

Career Day

Each spring, selected alumni are warmly welcomed to campus to share their professional expertise with our current students in all grades K-12. In a day that is customized for each returning speaker, alumni will participate in classes across all subjects, lead science labs, perform with our Fine Arts students depending on their individual area of expertise, meet Head of School Mitch White, and tour the campus.

At lunch, speakers are joined by teachers and Alumni Council members, and then the alumni participate on a panel for Upper School students who gather to learn and ask questions about a variety of jobs and career paths.

Royals Connect

Job Shadow

Students often wonder what it’s like in the world of work. Though they may have some idea about a particular career field, they often know little about the work environment surrounding a specific job. Students appreciate opportunities to experience different workspaces firsthand and sometimes gain valuable insight that what they thought was their ideal career area is not at all what they expected.

No matter where you are, if you can offer a student a job shadowing experience for a day or two, please contact Hayley Munroe. As our students travel around the world, they may appreciate the chance to connect with you or use some of their break periods to shadow you for a few hours or days.

Internships

If you can offer a longer career experience to a student, consider hosting a student for an internship for a week, month or summer. Perhaps a student could assist you with a writing assignment, graphic design, engineering project or marketing study. They will appreciate the chance to connect with you as well as the career opportunity. Please contact Hayley Munroe in the Alumni Relations Office to express your willingness to offer an internship to a student.

Alumni-to-Alumni Jobs

The Office of Alumni Relations is in contact with more than a quarter of the alumni body every year. Chances are, we can help you find another member of the alumni body who also works in your field and may be able to help you with your next career move. Feel free to reach out to a staff member who can help you build your network. Lake Ridge Academy also has alumni pages on Facebook and LinkedIn.
