Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created much uncertainty, the Lake Ridge Academy community can be assured that we will continue to offer an exceptional education during the 2020-2021 school year.
After months of planning, Lake Ridge Academy has issued the GoForward Playbook, a central resource of all the policies that will be implemented during in-person and/or virtual learning. We are fortunate to be able to confidently reopen for in-person learning this fall due to our small class sizes and location on a large 93-acre campus. However, we still must rely on the entire school community to adhere to all stated guidelines in order to keep all of our students, faculty and staff healthy and for our campus to remain open. Please review the entire playbook to educate yourself on these important guidelines.
The GoForward Playbook was informed by guidance set forth by several resources including the CDC, the State of Ohio, the Lorain County Board of Health, Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Since COVID-19 guidelines remain a fluid situation and we are learning how best to implement new school procedures, the GoForward Playbook is subject to change. The school community will receive communication when any changes are made.

GoForward Playbook Highlights
Face CoveringsEveryone at Lake Ridge, including all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, are required to wear masks when on campus. The mask policy has been amended to now include the requirement of wearing a mask during recess and PE when distancing cannot be maintained. Exceptions may be made under the direction of Lake Ridge faculty or staff when masks are not practical, such as when eating or drinking, during mask breaks, during outdoor learning, or during a situation where masks might be unsafe, such as some science labs. In those situations where masks are not practical, other mitigation measures in the two-barrier policy be utilized and students will be monitored. In all cases two barriers should be maintained. Faculty and staff are not required to wear masks when working alone in their own private office or room.
6' Distancing6' (1.8 meters) distancing or more will be encouraged at all times. Students desks will be separated at least 3' or more, and additional barriers will be in place when spaced less than 6'.
Outdoor LearningWith a 93-acre campus, our existing outdoor education program will offer more opportunities and dedicated spaces for outdoor learning.
Physical BarriersPhysical barriers will be installed in high-traffic areas and in spaces where it is difficult to maintain a 6' distance.
Limited VisitorsAnyone visiting campus other than students and employees will need to have an appointment with a specific employee and enter a specific door as arranged in advance. This guideline applies to parents at all times. All visitors must abide by the two-barrier policy, will be screened and must be accompanied by a Lake Ridge employee at all times throughout their visit.
SanitizationWe have established a combination of cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing procedures throughout the day. We have also increased the cleaning staff and equipment to support our efforts.
Frequent HandwashingHandwashing and sanitizing will be a key part of our daily routine. All students, staff and visitors will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering school and before proceeding to classrooms or offices. When entering or exiting a room, before and after eating, or after sneezing or coughing, students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.
COVID-19 Symptom CheckAll students, employees, and visitors will receive a temperature check and be asked to check for the presence of any of the following COVID-19 related symptoms prior to entering a building. One or more of the following symptoms will result in being sent home: cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fever (100.4 degrees or greater), chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea.
COVID-19 Infection Action PlanLake Ridge Academy’s COVID-19 Infection Action Plan is based on practices from the CDC and Lorain County Board of Health. A detailed chart of procedures to follow for each potential infection scenario, including school communications is available in the GoForward Playbook.
